MILCOM TECHNOLOGIES RAISES NINE MILLION DOLLARS IN VENTURE FUNDING FOR AFFILIATE COMPANY- SKYCROSS

SkyCross is a company devoted to the design, development and manufacture of advanced antenna technologies for wireless and fixed communications in the telecommunications, automotive and mobile computing markets.

Dr. Christopher Morton, MILCOM's Entrepreneur in Residence and SkyCross's Chairman of the Board and interim CEO announced the closure of the funding.

"SkyCross's business model, coupled with MILCOM's track record of creating successful high tech companies allowed us to raise the money quickly," explained Dr. Morton. "Now that we have the proper funding in place we will expand the core team and expedite product delivery to a broad range of customers," he added.

SkyCross's technology addresses consumer's top cellular phone concerns: It drastically reduces possible health risks to cellular phone users by generating 90% less energy than current antennas in the vicinity of the user's body. Additionally, by using SkyCross technology mobile devices can be much smaller, offer a 36% longer battery life, give high quality reception even in fringe areas, and operate on multiple frequencies. Utilizing the SkyCross technology means lower costs for wireless infrastructure provides and handset manufacturers.

The worldwide proliferation of multi-media portable devices and wireless systems, along with new consumer demands, is creating a huge opportunity for next generation antennas in the commercial market. The rapid deployment of new wireless and wired telecom systems is creating a market estimated to be worth $4.5 billion now and more than $8.3 billion in 2004.

SkyCross's antennas will be included in cell phones, PDAs, base stations, fixed wireless radios, satellite systems and new wireless radio systems for automobiles.
