SkyCross Antennas And Magis To
Co-Develop Reference Designs For 5 GHz Wireless Networking Products
MELBOURNE, Florida, April 4, 2002 – SkyCross, a leading
developer of advanced wireless antenna solutions, announced today
that SkyCross and Magis Networks, Inc., a leader in 802.11a wireless
chipsets, have agreed to co-develop reference designs utilizing
SkyCross' 5GHz antennas for use with Magis' Air5TM-based chipsets.
Magis' products enable wireless broadband networks.
Magis, which
includes Motorola and Hitachi as part of their funding partners,
developed its Air5TM technology to serve the emerging wireless networking market-a
market that demands easy-to-use, low-cost connectivity for video and data devices.
The Air5TM technology takes advantage of the high data rates of the 5 GHz frequency
band to enable distribution of multiple streams of video, data, and audio,
wirelessly to devices throughout the home and office. "Our 5GHz antenna
products will provide the antenna performance and compact size that Magis requires
for its new, wireless networking chipsets," said CEO of SkyCross. "And
thanks to our patented Meanderline Antenna technology, our antennas support
Magis at the high data rates their new Air5™-based chipsets require."
Magis' Air5TM technology exceeds the performance, coverage, and
range of other 802.11a and 802.11b products. The advanced design
also achieves a high level of integration, thereby significantly
reducing build costs to manufacturers and enabling them to quickly
bring 5GHz wireless networking products to market. "SkyCross

Applications for Magis' Air5TM technology include digital cable
