SkyCross Introduces Wireless Industry's Smallest High Gain Antenna Array For MMDS and WLAN Applications

New antenna is 65 percent smaller;
Designed for Wi-Fi hotspots

MELBOURNE, Florida, October 13, 2003   SkyCross, a leading developer of advanced wireless antenna solutions, today introduced the industry's smallest high performance antenna array for the Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service (MMDS) fixed wireless and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) markets.

The 2x2AR-2550U-A array antenna utilizes SkyCross patent pending printed ink technology to produce a powerful antenna array that covers both markets in one small package. The new antenna is designed for manufacturers and wireless network service providers that are building out fixed wireless access networks and Wi-Fi hotspots. It is comparable in performance to competitive directional arrays, but at 3 inches square, occupies 65 percent less surface area.

"This innovative antenna array design is unique in the wireless industry today," said Frank M. Caimi, CTO of SkyCross. "This antenna is another example that SkyCross' antenna technology is leading the antenna market in terms of size versus performance."

Key specifications of SkyCross' new antenna include:Frequency range:

  • 2.4 - 2.7 GHz
  • Gain: 8.2 dBi
  • Efficiency: greater than 90%
  • Size: 3.0" square
  • VSWR: < 1.25:1 across entire frequency range
About SkyCross
SkyCross is a leading developer of next-generation RF technology for mobile and fixed wireless telecommunications, telematics, satellite, and mobile computing markets. SkyCross' antenna solutions are based on patented Meander Line Antenna technology that allows engineers to design high performance, multi-mode, multi-frequency antennas that can be hidden inside a mobile casing, have a very low radiation profile, and offer much better gain characteristics over existing solutions. Typical applications for the antennas include handsets, laptop computers, PDAs, automobiles, household electronics and base stations. For details, please visit www.skycross.com.
