SK Teletech Launches CDMA Handset
With SkyCross Embedded Antenna
MELBOURNE, Florida, June 25, 2004 -- Wireless antenna manufacturer
SkyCross today announced that SK Teletech has begun using its patented
embedded antennas for its new wireless dual band CDMA/GPS phone.
The phone is being introduced in the South Korean market this month.
SkyCross and SK-Telecom have co-developed this new high performing
internal antenna technology and successfully commercialized it.
As a result, SK Teletech selected SkyCross' 300-series embedded
antennas for its new IM 7300 clamshell style phone, which features
a built in high resolution camera, color display and location based
services. The phone is one of the first clamshell style CDMA phones
available with an embedded antenna.
The SkyCross antenna provides frequency coverage in the ranges
of 824-894 MHz and 1575 MHz. It offers exceptional gain, efficiency
and low SAR.
"This agreement demonstrates that SkyCross' antennas can
perform in a global marketplace and meet SK Teletech's demanding
requirements," said Dr. Chris Morton, CEO of SkyCross. "We
are very pleased to be working with a company of this caliber and
are ecstatic that SkyCross' patented wireless antenna technology
has helped enable SK Telecom to provide a sleek, highly styled
handset with the exceptional performance that today's wireless
consumers demand."
The announcement comes on the heels of a $1 million investment
from SK Telecom, which involves sharing SkyCross' innovative core
technologies for internal antennas that are used for mobile headsets,
RFID tagging, and other wireless devices. Last year, SK Telecom
and SkyCross signed an agreement for SK Telecom to begin implementing
SkyCross cellular, GPS and WCDMA embedded antenna solutions into
several of its different phone models.
SkyCross is a Florida-based antenna company whose core technology
utilizes patented Meander Line Antenna (MLA) structures that make
it possible to build compact internal antennas for mobile handsets,
PDAs, WiFi, satellite Digital Multi-media Broadcasting (DMB), and
other applications. Because of its groundbreaking work, the company
was recently selected as one of Wireless Future Magazine's "Most
Innovative Companies."
SkyCross antennas enable mobile handset makers to provide high
performance internal antennas with their CDMA mobile handsets,
previously thought to be impossible. By using SkyCross technologies,
handsets become more aesthetically appealing -- since the antenna
size can be reduced to 2-3 centimeters - while providing superior
performance.
SK Telecom and SkyCross are already in discussions with multiple
major Korean and non-Korean handset manufacturers to use SkyCross
antennas in other mobile handsets and DMB devices. About SkyCross
SkyCross is a leading developer of next-generation
RF technology for mobile and fixed wireless telecommunications,
telematics, satellite, and mobile computing markets. SkyCross'
antenna solutions are based on patented Meander Line Antenna technology
that allows engineers to design high performance, multi-mode, multi-frequency
antennas that can be hidden inside a mobile casing, have a very
low radiation profile, and offer much better gain characteristics
over existing solutions. Typical applications for the antennas
include handsets, laptop computers, PDAs, automobiles, household
electronics and base stations. For details, please visit www.skycross.com.
