SkyCross Announces Multiple Design
Wins
for Korean DMB Mobile Phones
MELBOURNE, Florida, February 22, 2005 - Wireless antenna manufacturer
SkyCross today announced that its technology has been selected
as a key component for the Korean Digital Multimedia Broadcasting
(DMB) network. SkyCross views this as a very important new market
for its technology as SK Telecom declared DMB a target for their
next powerful growth opportunity.
The SkyCross antennas provide coverage for both the satellite
and terrestrial DMB networks. The antennas offer exceptional gain,
efficiency and low SAR, enabling these phones to utilize their
ultra-high speed data capabilities. Customers can enjoy high-quality
video-on-demand with digital TV channels through handheld terminals
such as handsets, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and automotive
devices.
One of the first DMB phones entering the market will be from Samsung.
This phone was recently introduced at the Busan ITU 2004 electronics
show in Korea and is planned to launch there this month. The revolutionary
handset uses two of SkyCross' new high-performing antennas designed
specifically for this Samsung product. Both antennas are a standard
feature in the phone.
"We are delighted to be a part of these new handsets as the
satellite network starts to flourish," said Dr. Chris Morton,
CEO of SkyCross. "SkyCross' patented wireless antenna technology
is helping to enable the breakthrough digital mobile broadcasting
services, and we are estatic to be engaging this market with high-quality
handset manufacturers such as Samsung."
This announcement comes on the heels of other recent design win
announcements including antennas for the Samsung SGH X-610 for
GSM/GPRS, the SK Teletech IM 7300 clam style CDMA handset for the
Korean marketplace, and the "Sendo X" Smartphone for
GSM networks throughout the world. About
