Kleer and SkyCross Partner to Offer Integrated Solutions for Wireless Audio

CUPERTINO, CA, and VIERA, FL—March 27, 2007—Kleer, a fabless semiconductor company, and SkyCross, a global wireless company providing antenna-centric RF solutions, today announced their partnership to provide complete, integrated solutions for wireless audio products. Kleer’s recently announced wireless earphone reference design (Dec. 2006) is the first product to utilize SkyCross antenna technology in conjunction with the Kleer KLR3012 audio module. SkyCross antennas are exclusively designed to operate with the Kleer radio architecture to offer superior performance, small size, and low power consumption while minimizing design time for manufacturers utilizing the technology.

This partnership brings together two industry innovators to provide a superior wireless audio solution. The low-power radio architecture and antenna package offers CD-quality digital stereo audio over a robust 2.4 GHz radio link while achieving 10 times the battery life of a comparable Bluetooth product. Kleer and SkyCross have taken an inclusive view of electronics design to maximize overall device performance while keeping the RF/base-band component very small and more power efficient, providing manufacturers with a convenient “one stop” solution.

This Kleer and SkyCross bundled radio/antenna architecture offers the design flexibility to adapt to any wireless audio application. Kleer’s wireless earphone reference design—the first product based upon this technology—is a pair of small form factor wireless earphones that are completely untethered from each other and from an adaptor that attaches to the latest generation iPod®. Beyond this initial example, the technology is applicable to wirelessly connect earphones, headsets, or speakers to a variety of audio sources including portable audio/media players and home audio/theater systems. This seamlessly integrated solution shortens and simplifies the design process.
